Other Characters: N/A
Name: Starscream
From: Transformers Shattered Glass
Appearance:

Age: Between 3-4 million
Gender: Identifies Male. (Alien Robot no actual genders really)
Personality:
Starscream is first and foremost a bot of science. If he were to spend the rest of his days within a lab experimenting and observing he would be completely and utterly happy to do so. Peaceful and kind Starscream is the first to advocate finding a nonviolent solution to a problem if it can be found. Though the war has made him regretfully see, that often times, such can not be found when dealing with Optimus Prime and his Autobots. However, Starscream still hopes for a time when he can put his scientific mind to projects of a more peaceful nature.
Nothing is ever too mundane or common for him in his delving into the scientific. Each little discovery or breakthrough is a thrill to behold and document. Theories and experiments a joy, and if one has to patiently wait to see even a small change or effect in a project, well that is worth it all for the effort and journey of discovery.
Loyalty is also a big part of Starscream and his interaction with others. The main focus of such is that of his loyalty to his Lord Megatron. In many ways Megatron can do no wrong in Starscream's optics.Except for that worrying tendency to throw himself into Prime's warpath that Starscream hates so much Once you gain Starscream's trust you have it for the rest of your days unless you somehow do something extreme to betray it.
This leads into his sometimes excessive worrying for others. As Starscream has a very kind nature that coupled with his freely given devotion to others makes him one to fret and coddle those close to him. Helping and making others feel welcomed is just a natural part of his personality, even if it can be a bit too much mothering at times.
Despite this his self esteem is not really anything like that of other Starscreams.
There is no ambition for leadership or being in charge, and it is likely the only reason why he is second in command is due to Megatron convincing him to take it. This also means that at times he has argued with Megatron on whether or not he would be able to take over and lead the Decepticon if the unthinkable were to ever happen. Something Starscream does not want to think about let alone happen as he would not know what to do without Megatron there to lead them all. However, if there is a need he will gamely step forth and lead troops when Megatron is not there to do so, all while happily and willingly stepping back down to allow Megatron to retake his rightful place in this.
Starscream is also socially awkward in several ways. Due to how he went from the top of his class and considered the brightest mind to have passed through the halls of Crystal City College to going underground and joining the resistance against the tyrannical Optimus Prime, Starscream has never really had the time or chance to interact normally with those around him. His passion for research and knowledge making him one to prefer the solitude of a lab or archive to the normal gatherings of his peers. This makes him quiet and reserved when not acting in any of his official capacities or worrying over someone.
However, once he has become used to someone and/or becomes close to them he allows himself to be more expressive and not so politely distant. Even joking and acting more casually (Like his throwing an item in mock annoyance at Soundwave for making a bad joke.) which lets it be shown how dork like and over emotional he can be at times.
So mostly if you are in anyway acquainted with any other Starscream in this franchise the first thing you will likely realize is that this Starscream is pretty much the extreme opposite of his fellows. Where they are manipulative, he is open; where they are arrogant, he is overly humble; where they are secretive and lying, he is honest and a bad liar; etc, etc.
Backstory:
When a mathematician was being dismissed for his theory that a war was on the horizon, Starscream was graduating from Crystal City College and was being hailed as one of the most ingenious bots on all of Cybertron at the time. His future of settling into a research grant and immersing himself in theories and experiments was not to be however as war did break out across the whole of Cybertron. The civil war brought about by a tyrannical bot by the name of Optimus Prime who ravaged across the planet with his Autobot regime.
Optimus, wanting the best for himself and his path to ruling all of Cybertron and then the universe 'graciously' offered Starscream to join him. Starscream refused and in retaliation for denying him Optimus had Crystal City razed to the ground right before Starscream's eyes. Managing to escape Starscream went underground and soon came across a resistance faction being lead by Megatron, which Starscream quickly joined. His genius and his willingness to question and look at problems at a different angle then the quiet and charismatic leader quickly ascended Starscream up to be second in command of the resistance.
The war raged on and ravaged a great deal of Cybertron when an event happened that would change the way the war would go.
A portal would open and out of it would come an Autobot by the name of Cliffjumper who comes from a completely different Cybertron. With the knowledge and viewpoint of Cliffjumper the Decepticon's manage to stop Optimus from launching a war ship called the Ark into space and thus to earth to conquer and enslave humanity. A setback that is quickly pushed to the side as both sides are distracted by the scrambling to find and capture a herd of dinobots that had been created by the insane genius Wheeljack. The Decepticons manage to find and help eight of the creations giving them more intelligence and settling them in. Even as they puzzled over the sudden gain of embers in the dinocons making them sentient and able to transform. Which greatly keeps the power balance from tipping into the favor of the Autobots.
This is a short lived victory and rest before both sides are galvanized to frantically build and prepare to launch their respective ships before they lose the opportunity.
Because of the short launch window. An Autobot by the name of Ricochet tricks Megatron into going alone to see about a distress call from an old ally. This creates a panic amidst the Decepticons and the talk to go and save their leader from capture is proposed, even as Cliffjumper tells them this is an attempt to have them not be able to follow the Autobots when they launch. As such only a small team is sent to rescue Megatron while Cliffjumper makes certain that Starscream will launch when the time comes, whether or not Megatron is on board.
Which is what happens and so Starscream and the crew of the Nemesis take off after Hot Rod, who had mutinied when Optimus had gone to find and kill Megatron himself when he found out Ricochet had captured him, chasing after the Ark as it jumps to earth. In the orbit of earth the two ships fought and a team lead by Astrotrain managed to send the Ark crashing into the pacific ocean by sabotaging its main gun to fire into the engines of the Ark. The victory however was short lived as an orbital defense station manned by the humans sighted and shoots the Nemesis with a nuclear missile, sending it crashing into the atmosphere and towards the US. Most of the crew managed to escape via escape pods while Cliffjumper and Starscream however, remained on board to steer the ship away from populated areas.
The two were soon found by Heatwave, Soundwave, Ravage, and a group of humans that had come to excavate what they though was a meteorite. Starscream quickly helped explain to the humans about the how and why of them being here. This then leads to Starscream remaining with the Nemesis while the rest go out to find and recover the rest of the crew. As Starscream can not use the transformation nexus of the Nemesis to acquire a suitable alternate mode since it is broken he can not risk being seen in the sky with such an alien alt-mode.
After finding Crasher a broadcast suddenly overtook every communication channel on earth. Within it was Hot Rod, now calling himself Rodimus Prime, had taken control of one of the Global Orbital Defense Satellites and was announcing how he was now holding earth as hostage if humanity did not bow down to him. Calling the away team back it was found out where Rodimus was located and Starscream, who still could not go with due to his alien jet mode likely getting shot out of the sky if seen, stayed and acted as mission control for the rest as they went and stopped Rodimus in his demands.
Thus starting the conflict of the Decepticons and Autobots on Earth.
Moral Standing: Neutral Good; with a nice dose of pacifism that sadly gets neglected due to the war they are in.
Dreams: Currently the main dream is for an end to the war, preferably with the Decepticons as the victors. Aside from that, he really wishes to have a life of scientific research that will then be used to help better his people and world.
Fears: The loss of the war to Optimus Prime thus having all those who oppose the tyrant either being killed or enslaved. The death of Megatron is also a great fear as well, as he is a dear friend. In this he also fears having to take over as the next leader of the Decepticons as Starscream feels he is not worthy or qualified enough to be able fill the role as Megatron has done.
Extra: As a giant transforming alien robot from the planet Cybertron, Starscream is able to transform into an alien jet that only holds a vague resemblance to anything on earth. There is also a fact that due to being a mirrored universe to most other Transformers franchises. Instead of a proton charged 'spark' Starscream has an electron charged 'ember' that is basically the robot equivalent to a soul.
Character Location: N/A due to the lack of viable locations described in canon.
Samples:
It must also be noted that due to the various writers and artists who contribute to this series that the tone from each issue, especially between this comic and several of the prose stories jump and vary wildly at times. Thus while one part may be serious and dark, another may be lighthearted and pokes fun at the franchise at times. Thus it sometimes is hard to keep an accurate voice from one issue to the next.
Writing Sample: Earth was far more then what they had originally expected.
Starscream could have kicked himself for not thinking of such when they had studied the transmissions. It was such a silly mistake to not take into account how much time must have passed between each broadcast being sent out into the deep richness of space before they had intercepted them, as well as to take each with some caution to expect it to be true, they had once had audio and visual feeds strictly for entertainment before the war and it was a bit in hubris for them to not think such of other races out there. Though it didn't dim the fascination at all as he watched the crew interact and integrate themselves amidst the human allies they had acquired. Soundwave in particular seemed to flourish here and with him his cassette partners as well.
Though, despite such and the academic debates and talks he enjoyed with Dr. Arkeville he could not help but worry and wonder about those who had remained on Cybertron. Were they faring well against Optimus and his autobots that were there, was Megatron taking on more then he should without himself and Soundwave there to talk him out of such actions? It was disheartening to think of such even though he knew Megatron would not want him to do so, he would have gladly switched places with Megatron and allowed him to see and meet humans and keep them safe from Rodimus Prime. He couldn't though and so he would try and lead his fellow members as best as he could to make what all of them had done to be here not be in vain.
"We'll keep fighting here. Good luck."
